Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. But she's at last returned to the empire—for vengeance, to rescue her once-glorious kingdom, and to confront the shadows of her past . . . She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die just to see her again. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved to a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen's triumphant return. Celaena’s epic journey has captured the hearts and imaginations of millions across the globe. This fourth volume will hold readers rapt as Celaena’s story builds to a passionate, agonizing crescendo that might just shatter her world.

“To whatever end.”

Holy crap. That’s my main thought that ran through my heard throughout Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas. I seriously cannot express to you just how much love I have for this series. The books honestly keep getting better and better and BETTER! Holy hell what a book.

From the start, I was hooked as always. But goodness me the pacing was bloody brilliant. The emotions that are present in Queen of Shadows is intense and the action, THE ACTION! THERE IS SO MUCH ACTION MY LITTLE HEART COULDN’T TAKE IT. Seriously so much happened in this book. The way MAas is able to bring to life this unbelievable world is absolutely 100% magic. It’s so enchanting.

“Fire-breathing bitch-queen.”

The characters in the book also keep getting better and better. I loved Manon in the previous book, but now… holy hell. I love her so much. She is the most ruthless badass witch and is so incredibly loyal to her 13. I also really enjoy the way that Aelin progresses, kicking so much ass I couldn’t keep up. I think during Queen of Shadows, the love I have for Manon is now rivaling that of Aelin. I don’t think there is any problem with that!

“You make me want to live, Rowan. Not survive; not exist. Live.”

My love for Rowan grew as well within Queen of Shadows. He is an incredible character and I really look forward to seeing more of him. He alongside Aedion also provided perfect company for Aelin and her forming court. Lysandra is also a character that I really see myself growing super fond of. FINALLY, someone that Aelin can become friends with and talk about all the woman things that none of the guys care about!

“They were infinite. They were the beginning and the ending; they were eternity. The king standing before them gaped as the shield of flame died out to reveal Aelin and Dorian, hand in hand, glowing like newborn gods as their magic entwined.”

IT was super exciting to read more about Dorian too. With him and his struggles with how to control his magic and how his characters grew. I seriously look forward to the next book with him. Chaol also has his own struggles to deal with during the story. For me it is amazing to see how every single character has grown from the first Throne of Glass book. I only hope that continues into the next books.

Overall, Queen of Shadows is a gripping, action-packed and romantic book. An absolute must-read if you are into the Throne of Glass series!
